What you're reading

DAISY is a sweeping historical novel that follows the extraordinary life of Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low – a woman whose strong spirit and steadfast friendships helped her create an enduring movement for women and girls.

Determined to live beyond the confines of Southern society, Daisy set out for a grander life in New York City, only for tragedy to call her back home to Savannah, Georgia. Heartbroken yet resilient, Daisy finds strength not just in herself, but in the steadfast sisterhood of her friends, whose loyalty and love help her reimagine what life could be.

These friendships carry her through a turbulent marriage to the charming yet elusive Willy Low, and ultimately give her the courage to push past expectations and carve a new path. From the cobblestone streets of Savannah to the stately halls of England, DAISY brings to life a network of enduring friendships that enable her to resist societal norms and build a legacy that spans generations.

About the Author

I’m Maxie McCoy, and I'm on a mission to make sure women’s stories don’t go untold. Three and a half years ago while visiting Savannah, GA, I stumbled on the story of Juliette Gordon Low; Why didn’t more people know her real, wildly dramatic, unbelievable and yet totally relatable life? Some corners know her name, but do they know her full story? Daisy’s resilience deserved to be widely written about and remembered.

So, I moved to Savannah and started writing this book. I threw myself into her life, her records, her letters and watched as her story shaped mine.

But it didn’t turn out how I planned (does it ever??) After three years of writing and revising thanks to an incredible book coach, brilliant literary agents, and an amazing support system… 20+ editors at the best publishing houses passed on my manuscript. It was creative heartbreak to say the least. Lots of heavy emotions took up residency in my heart: rejection, WTactualF, fury, embarrassment, disappointment, and deep sadness. I tried to find peace in the fact that it isn’t never, just not yet

And then I wondered: what would Daisy do?

She’d bring women together. She’d keep going. She’d be bummed out and move into action. She'd get creative and then self-fund a beautiful version of her art.

So I did that, and
I created this keepsake, limited edition book.

I believe that you’re not just reading a book—it’s a chain that grows and strengthens with every book that passes hands. One reader to another, linking us all together, one story at a time.

Daisy—both the woman and the book—changed my life. I can’t wait to see what she rouses in yours.
