Work b*tch, the real story: I've never purchased a celebrity memoir, but I had to read Britney Spear's new book, The Woman in Me. It is heartbreaking. It is at times harrowing. It made me completely re-think my experience of seeing her in Vegas with my two besties. I remember having the BEST time, but also feeling like she had very much phoned in the entire experience. I won't give away my holy-shi*t-that's-so-f*cked moments from the book, but let's just say there's many of them, which peak at her 13-year conservatorship Worth the read if you're Britney-curious.

What I'm writing:  Well, I got the beta reader feedback from That Novel and it was amazingggggg! Between things I never could have caught on my own, and their general highly-positive feedback, I cried a few times this weekend. I just finished an entire revision of the third act (one more time) and I'm counting down the weeks of work until I get to hand this back over to my agent. We're getting close y'all!!

Women’s Studies

What gets passed down becomes our history. A few for the canon:  My favorite halloween movies are an easy two: Practical Magic and Hocus Pocus. If you're a fan of the former, you've GOT to read this interview with the director of Practical Magic. It's full of behind-the-scenes tidbits, perspectives on the movie (then and now) and...wait for it...the existence of a directors cut!!! Which where can I sign a petition to get that film released?? Happy Halloween!

Stories are heirlooms. Here's one of mine:  Savannah does Halloween right, with Wag-o-Ween. You read that right! Dress up your dog and take them trick-or-treating to all the local businesses. Obviously Skye had to be a happy pumpkin. And she went trick or treating for every last one of those bacon-flavored dog treats. I'm not sure who was happier, her or me.
