BIRTHDAYS, HELPERS AND THE MET

LIFE OF A BOOKMAN

Bookman: 1. a person who has a love of books and especially of reading. 2. a person who is involved in the writing, publishing, or selling of books. Oh, hi that's me!!

The Daisy Chain: I'm reading my own book! Is that supremely self-involved?? It's SO different to read DAISY in all her hardback glory, versus the many, many, many, many, many, printed out versions (that are still piled up in a reusable sack in my office, actually). It's beyond, beyond exciting getting notes from people who are already reading DAISY, already loving her.

If you don't have your book yet, you will! I promise. USPS media mail is notoriously slow. If you're in the USA but don't have your book by Jan 24 give [email protected] a shout and we'll check your tracking number.

But whatever you do, don't miss this very sweet and hilarious video from my parents seeing Daisy for the first time. They're the unboxing G.O.A.T.S.

PS. Today is my birthday!! Anyone want to gift Savannah's Little Free Library (Daisy's hometown) a copy of my book? Use code: Birthday for a reduced-price copy of DAISY that'll I drop into little free libraries here in Savannah on your behalf with a note that it's from you!!! <3 <3 <3

WOMEN’S STUDIES

What gets passed down becomes our history. Anyone ever wished that they could pee like a man in public, or is that just me? It's just seems SO convenient!? The Pure Liberation of a Personal Urination Device really tickled me when I read it. Looks like our problem is solved, ladies!

Other stray links that made me think this week:

🎧 The Rise of Therapy Speak (there's only so many times you can hear the word “trauma” in a day???)

🎧 The Screens Between Us (why we need more embodied time, as in time spent not in the hallucinatory nature of online work)

🔍 He's a Security Guard at the Met. Now his work is showing there... (This will give you HOPE)

PASS IT ON

Stories are heirlooms. Here's one of mine:

I do not have words for what is happening in Los Angeles right now. To my best friends' community. To so many people that I love who live there and who are in a deep collective catastrophe, collective grief. But where I fail in any good words, my dear friend Rob Healy has some of the most beautiful ones that I've read on the matter: LA IS FOR THE HELPERS

My birthday wish is that you'll read it. And that you'll help.

Woman on xx

My words are written just for you.
